1970

Carlton Hotel was opened in 1970 at its current site, and used be called Hilton until 2007.
At the time, there were no five-star hotels yet in Madagascar and Carlton became the first to impose its vision of a modern hotel and without concession on international quality standards with the legendary Malagasy hospitality. The hotel quickly becomes one of the capital's most important places and many heads of State, personalities, delegations or simple travelers came and stay there.

Over the time and the arrival of new hotels, Carlton has chosen to remain the first and only "5-star" in the capital.

In the 2000s, we felt that evolution of our quality standards had to meet requirements, which were also changing
Integrating a reference group of hotels such as Preferred Hotels & Resorts, which imposes high and regularly measured criteria, seemed to be a logical step for us.

2016

For our customers - our guests - this represented an assurance of our commitment to progress constantly towards an optimal quality of service.
It seems natural for us that the aspects of Safety, Hygiene and Environment should be part of our daily concerns. Carlton has now carried out a true upgrade to these standards.

Today we are continuing these efforts and the recent acquisition of the ISO 9001 standard (the first in Madagascar) serves as an excellent example.
